Safety Matters
Safety is a guiding principle at Arch
Coal. Our top priority is making sure
that every miner returns home safe and
healthy at the end of every shift. For
the most recent calendar year (2007),
Arch’s safety incident rate of 1.02 was
three times better than the
industry average of 3.31 lost-time injuries per
200,000 employee-hours. (Source: MSHA
